NHSnet

The NHSnet is a scheme to link together hospitals, doctors, nurses and pharmacies with the internet providing email and web browsing without compromising security.

The idea is to make the exchange of information and communication between healthcare workers more efficient, and to enable access to medical information both on special websites (NHSweb) and on the world wide web. There is much discussion as to the usefulness of this implementation and the costs entailed.
